2007 Cabernet Sauvignon “The Main Event”

From Red Mountain to Horse Heaven Hills, to Yakima Valley…Klipsun, Wallula, and Lewis, Aldercreek, Boushey, Meek, and Dineen Vineyards make this Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. This year, our signature Merlot made its way into this wine, as we chose not to produce a single varietal Merlot. We thought it tasted better the Cabernet Blend, than by itself.

We strive for balance and in all of our wines and in this wine we continue our pursuit of using just the right about of French oak. It adds some nice complexities and niceties, but too much of anything can be a bad thing. Many people talk of balance…we try and back up our talking.

“The Main Event” is what happens every time we do our blending. We get together and the cage fight begins over which barrels are better than others. And afterward we only throw back a couple glasses and hope we’ve figured out the best blend. When we deal with 37 barrels which are all different, due to our practice of barrel integrity, it makes a long day for blending and tasting…
